There a visibly angry Chicago Blackhawks fans who have been present on social media regarding their inability to watch their team on the television.

While there are other methods which to watch your team, including using streaming sites, and VPN you'd think instead of pushing your customers to use those you'd make the games available.

Apparently not, as Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times had clarified the issues of the Chicago Sports Network for local fans.

In what should be seen as a huge foul-up by the Blackhawks' leadership, local fans cannot currently view the Blackhawks thanks to an impasse with Comcast.

Chicago Sports Network and Comcast have yet to reach a deal to televise the Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox «primarily due to a disagreement over the tier of cable package in which the carrier would place the new network.» A source said that a «major hurdle in discussions has been the issue of channel placement.» Cable providers have «increasingly moved to place regional sports networks in premium tiers or packages that come at a higher cost to consumers.» The source said that CHSN's goal is «to be available to as many fans as possible.» CHSN has «agreed to lower rights fees from Comcast," but has been «unwilling to accept Comcast's proposal to place CHSN on the cable service's highest tier.» NBC Sports Chicago, the previous broadcast home to the three teams, had been on Comcast's middle tier (THE ATHLETIC, 10/12).

You'd think this deal would've been the first pain point for the front office from Danny Wirtz, to Jamie Faulkner to address. You want fans to view your product right?

Well for now, only those out-of-market Blackhawks fans will be able to view games on ESPN+ while local fans are blacked out for the time being.

For now, local fans are at the mercy and in the middle of the fallout between NBC Sports Chicago, an RSN, and Chicago Sports Network and their negotiations with Comcast.

Meaning, that they don't know when they'll be able to view Connor Bedard locally unless they use other methods that aren't approved of.

This is another case of asset mismanagement, and the fans will have to pay for it in the long run.
