Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky criticized Stan Bowman for his role during the Kyle Beach scandal, which damaged Bowman and the Blackhawks' names.

Under Bowman, the team didn't look into serious accusations against Brad Aldrich during a playoff run in the 2010s.

Bowman had to resign in 2021, and Kyle Davidson took over as GM.

Now, after being allowed back by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, Bowman has signed with the Edmonton Oilers, where Gretzky's brother works.

Keith Gretzky has been a good part of the management under Ken Holland. But Bowman, known for winning several Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks, remains a strong candidate despite his past issues.

Gretzky voiced concerns about young players' safety under Bowman's management, stressing the need for better practices.

In case the Oilers think the fear of hiring Stan Bowman as GM has blown over, here is Wayne Gretzky saying "I'm sitting here thinking, as a parent 'My son is 18 years old and he's going to maybe be drafted by that team...I want to know my 18-yr-old son is going to be protected."
