The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Monday night that they activated forward Nick Foligno, who was dealing with a fractured left finger, from injured reserve, Foligno made a shocking recovery, within a matter of nearly one week it's clear the finger may not fully be healed, but the veteran wants to return to mentor this young kid. It does have a side of concern, as he was expected to be out 4-6 weeks.
Alongside this positive news, there's a negative underlining, the team placed defenseman Connor Murphy, who has been nursing a groin strain, on injured reserve. This move is retroactive to January 16.
In order to facilitate Foligno's return to the active roster, the Blackhawks had to make room by removing a player. Connor Murphy was the one who had to step back due to the team's roster requirements.
These roster adjustments are part of the Blackhawks' ongoing efforts to manage player injuries and adhere to the league's roster regulations.
