24 Years Ago Today: Eddie Olczyk's Career in Chicago Officially Started (highlights)
On this day in 1998, August 26th, the Blackhawks signed Eddie Olczyk. Who would go on to shape a face in the Blackhawks organization for many many years, whether that is on the ice or broadcasting.
No. 16: Eddie Olczyk (C, 1984-87, 1998-2000) Drafted No. 3 overall by his hometown team in the 1984 NHL Draft, Olczyk spent his first three seasons and last two seasons with the Blackhawks, where he produced 209 points (77 goals, 132 assists) in 322 regular-season games and 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 22 postseason contests. Eddie O has cemented his legacy in Chicago as both a hockey player and broadcaster.
Sadly the Hawks decided to move on without Olczyk in the broadcasting booth and did not renew his contract, he is now in Chicago and will be calling games with his sun by his side.
