A new equipment policy is being implemented by one NHL organization after tragedy
Adam Johnson's death in England's EIHL Saturday night creates a new safety issue for the NHL.
As last season, Evander Kane's wrist was lacerated by a skate, we've seen these injuries happen more frequently.
The National Hockey League family mourns the passing of former Pittsburgh Penguin Adam Johnson. Our prayers and deepest condolences go to his family, friends and teammates. https://media.nhl.com/public/news/17376
With Adam Johnson's loss, teams will have to confront a harsh reality: they must protect their players' necks from the possibility of being cut.
One NHL organization has heeded the call early, as many of the Boston Bruins' AHL team, the Providence Bruins, have worn neck protection on the ice since then.

In the news, it appears the NHLPA is working to secure standard equipment for players in the next contract if it isn't already there.
