Alex DeBrincat Gets Disrespected in Return to His Former Team
The boos raining down on Alex DeBrincat at the Canadian Tire Center raised questions about the source of the fans' frustration.
Was it aimed at DeBrincat himself for his refusal to sign an extension with the Senators, or was it a reflection of discontent with the General Manager's handling of the situation? The GM initially traded for DeBrincat without securing a contract extension and then had to trade him to the Detroit Red Wings.
While the true target of the boos remains uncertain, it's clear that this trade saga has left a bitter taste in the mouths of Senators fans. DeBrincat's day back at the Canadian Tire Center took a physical toll as well, with a thunderous hit from Ottawa Senators' Ridley Greig that sent him to the ice.
Somehow, that clean hit laid on DeBrincat resulted in a roughing penalty, and fans are not too pleased.
