Jonathan Toews, former Chicago Blackhawk and current free agent stated that he will not retire fromthe National Hockey League. He will notbe participating in the 202324 season, though.
Although it is not certain he is going to play for the Chicago Blackhawks, the 35-year-old hopes to be back for the 202425 regular season.
Toews' chronic immune response condition forced him to miss the entire 2021 season. The Hawks captain appeared in more games last year, playing in 53 contests and recording 15 goals and 16 assists. However, he has been absent due to a COVID illness since late January 2023.
The Blackhawks opted not to sign the forward after a quiet season plagued by setbacks and injuries. Making him a free agent and no organization agreed to sign him. Giving Jonathan Toews the chance to step away from the game to spend time with family and hopefully improve his health.
It was anticipated that Jonathan Toews might have played his final game as a Chicago Blackhawk and in his career at the conclusion of the 202223 season.
which does not seem to be the case with a desire to return tothe ice the next year.
