Alexander Ovechkin has spent over 17 years with the Washington Capitals organization since being drafted 1st overall in the 2005 NHL entry draft but it may be coming to an end shortly with recent reporters..
While Ovechkin is chasing Wayne Gretzky's records, the Capitals are chasing fresh air just to keep their head above waters due to their recent lack of success and injuries as of late, which may result in a rebuild as the roster continues to age.
Reported by Greg Wyshynski, Ovechkin has informed the Washington Capitals management that he does not plan to be apart of the Capitals if they choose to rebuild during his journey of passing Wayne Gretzky for all-time goals.
This is defiantly a tricky situation for the Capitals as they are not looking too competitive and if in hopes for a rebuild, their best player, Alex Ovechkin, will be gone elsewhere.
