Over the past three days it feels like the NHL has made more trades than ever, most teams getting a head start before the NHL trade deadline hits on March 3rd, just five days away.

The first trade comes from the Montreal Canadiens, sending forward Evgenii Dadonov to the Dallas Stars in exchange for another Russian, Denis Gurianov. The Canadiens are also retaining 50% of Gurianov's contract.

The second trade is a much bigger one, with the Vegas Golden Knights recently placing the teams captain, Mark Stone, on the long-term injury reserve they free'd up a lot of cap space, we all knew a Vegas trade was near...

The Vegas Golden Knights are acquiring St.Louis Blues forward, and a former cup champion, Ivan Barabshev. The 6-foot-1 Russian is a big bodied forward who is ideal for playoff hockey, in his last 2 games Barbashev has thrown a whopping 14 hits.

Trade: Vegas has acquired Ivan Barbashev from the Blues for a prospect.

*the prospect has not been identified yet, it's likely a prospect who holds a value equivalent too a 1st round draft pick.

Barabshev also has a Stanley Cup under his belt and contributed physically, he will be a great fit in Vegas... now that the trades are flying in, it's time for other teams to act fast before they snooze and lose!
