The rumors of a possible Jakob Chychrun trade have been swirling around the NHL for the past few weeks, but not it appears that a trade for the star defenseman is imminent. According to coach Andre Touigny, Chychrun will be scratched tonight against Nashville and will not see the ice again until something happens.
Chychrun will remain out until he is traded, he's played his last game as an Arizona Coyote.
Chychrun is the best defenseman on the market ahead of the trade deadline and for good reason. He has 28 points in 36 games and is a +/- 8 on a Coyotes team that is in the bottom 4 of the league with a -47 goal differential. 21 out of 27 points scored by Chychrun have come at even strength and also has 52 blocked shots at even strength.
There have been rumors about the possibility of Chychrun going to Los Angeles to join the Kings via trade, but nothing has been confirmed as of this writing. One thing for certain is that Chychrun will be a great fit for any team willing to trade for him. With 23 minutes and 16 seconds of ice time a night, Chychrun can slide anywhere in the defensive pairings for most teams and eat some valuable minutes.
Chychrun has two more seasons left on his deal after the 2022-2023 season concludes, carrying a very reasonable $4,600,000 cap hit. With many teams seemingly having their hat in the circle to acquire the services of the 24 year old defenseman, where do you think he'll end up?
