Blackhawks Rookie Defensemen Showdown: VLASIC VS REGULA
To be quite honest, I'm not the biggest fan of a «shootout». Both our subjects today should be excellent on the Hawks blue line for years to come. However, a look at the seasons of both Alex Vlasic and Alec Regula are worth comparing and contrasting.
After finishing at Boston University, Alex Vlasic played 15 games with Chicago and racked up 2 points, a goal and assist. Alec Regula also played in 15 games and had a point, one goal. It's very little sample size, but both add up to .1 points per game. Not bad for defensemen with limited NHL experience.
Regula sizes in at 6'4» and 208 pounds, while Vlasic towers at 6'6» but weighs 199. Physical trainer Goodman would do well to put muscle on both these young men.
This combo could be the next incarnation of Seabrook and Keith. Size, speed, and shut down ability with offensive upside.
