The Chicago Blackhawks' ownership has undergone a significant change following the sudden passing of CEO and Chairman Rocky Wirtz. Wirtz, who had been part of the Blackhawks' ownership legacy for well over two generations, passed away just before the drafting of Connor Bedard.

After several months of near silence from ownership, the current Chairman and CEO, Danny Wirtz, the son of Rocky, emerged today with a surprising announcement. They will be dedicating a new bar in honour of his late father.

The bar will be known as "Rocky's Bar" and will be located on the 100 level outside section 119, where Rocky used to watch his beloved Blackhawks.

As the team and organization navigated through both turbulent and joyful times, I believe this is a wonderful way to honour him and provide patrons with a special place to remember Rocky. Ownership has also taken other steps to honour his memory, such as wearing patches with a black emblem and the name "Rocky" on their jerseys throughout the entire season.

The Blackhawks will conclude their road trip across North America with a game in Denver against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday, October 19th, at 10:30 PM Eastern Time. Their following game will be their home opener against the Golden Knights on Saturday, October 21st.
