Chicago Blackhawks Kyle Davidson Comments on The Blackhawks New Captain After Toews Leaves
The Chicago Blackhawks have announced that their long-time captain, Jonathan Toews, will be leaving the organization this off-season. The decision comes after Toews took a year-long hiatus due to health concerns, and now he will be exploring his options to join a contender team if his health is stable. This news leaves the Blackhawks without a captain, a position that Toews held since 2008 and helped lead the team to three Stanley Cup championships.
General Manager Kyle Davidson stated that the team has a strong leadership group, and they will select the next captain in due course, he explained further:
The Blackhawks have a history of great leaders and excellent players who have worn the "C" on their jerseys, including Toews, Denis Savard, and Stan Mikita, to name a few. The team will undoubtedly miss Toews' leadership and on-ice prowess, but they are looking forward to building a new leadership group to guide them to future success.
