The Chicago Blackhawks may be in a rebuild but that doesn't mean they can't do a little bit of shopping. After cashing in on the Draft Lottery, they will need all the support they can get for their first overall draft pick. Ivan Barbashev anticipates that he will be a UFA this summer due to the Knights cap, and he has already been linked to the Chicago Blackhawks.
Despite just celebrating a Stanley Cup win with the Vegas Golden Knights, Ivan Barbashev is expected to hit unrestricted free agency this summer.
Barbashev is due for a pay increase this summer after his strong year splitting between the St. Louis Blues and Vegas Golden Knights. But it is unlikely that the Knights will pay to make him stay.
Ivan Barbashev is a special all around player who can add a spark back into the Blackhawks lineup. He can play all three forward positions, and isn't afraid to use his body to his advantage. He could be very versatile in the Hawks top six.
The Blackhawks have the money to flirt with the idea of bringing in some free agents this summer, it's just a matter of who.
