Dallas Stars Goaltender Penalized For Cheating in Last Night's Game? The NHL is Cracking Down!
The NHL is cracking down on goaltenders for delaying the game, but more so purposely shaking their helmets off of their head to get a whistle during their opposing teams scoring opportunity.
Goaltender shake their helmets off in hopes for a stoppage in play due to the on-pour of offence being applied by their opponents, and it's been seen a few times this season.
Last night, Dallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger was given a 2-minute delay of game penalty for taking his helmet off, which resulted in a stoppage of play. A questionable penalty for this scenario due to it's not clear how it happened, but clearly the referees thought it was unnecessary.
