Murphy took a hard shot to his left knee from Canucks forward J.T. Miller, and the visible pain on Murphy's face showed the impact.
Although Murphy tried to stay in the game initially, he eventually collapsed after the Canucks scored. The 30-year-old veteran, unable to put weight on his injured leg, needed help from teammates to leave the ice, and could not leave the game under his own will.
Unfortunately, Murphy joins a growing list of injured Blackhawks, including Seth Jones, Jarred Tinordi, Taylor Hall, Andreas Athanasiou, and others.
Murphy made his way to the Blackhawks' locker room, but there's no official word on the extent of his injury. Similar to Taylor Hall, he returned to the same game where he tore a ligament in his knee, and made it even worse.
This adds to the challenges the Blackhawks are already facing this season, dealing with multiple key players sidelined due to injuries.
