The Blackhawks defeated the Winnipeg Jets during Monday night's game 3-1, on an Alex Debrincat 3rd period goal. The Hawks also received some stellar goaltending from Marc-Andre Fleury who stopped 31 of 32 shots as the Hawks were out shot again.

The win does come with a bit of controversy from the Winnipeg crowd. While Adam Lowry was in on a clear cut breakaway, Fleury attempted a poke check but lost control of his stick, instead throwing it towards Lowry and the puck. There was no penalty called on the play.

While clearly unintentional the NHL rule is written as follows.

53.7 Penalty Shot - When any member of the defending team, including the Coach or any non-playing person, throws or shoots any part of a stick or any other object or piece of equipment at the puck or puck carrier in his defending zone, the Referee or Linesman shall allow the play to be completed and if a goal is not scored, a penalty shot shall be awarded to the non-offending team. This shot shall be taken by the player designated by the Referee as the player fouled.

After some of the awful calls that have gone against our Hawks this season, I can say we were owed one going our way.
