In any NHL organization, it is standard practice for the head coach and general manager to handle all the talking and PR work, both during moments of greatness and when things take a turn for the worse. Consequently, most fans are unfamiliar with the assistant coach or development coaches within the organization, as they are rarely mentioned.

However, breaking the silence on the assistant coach front, it was recently announced that Peter Aubry, former Chicago Blackhawks goalie development coach and former assistant coach of the Rockford Ice Hogs, has been appointed as the associate coach of the Omaha Mavericks.

Born on May 19, 1977, in Windsor, ON, Aubry had an illustrious playing career that saw him in action for the ECHL and the AHL team, the Saint John's Flames. The 46-year-old former goaltender's career took him to various leagues, including Europe, Texas, and Great Britain.

The University of Nebraska Omaha Mavericks are a Division One level NCAA hockey team, affiliated with the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. The Mavericks made history by reaching the 2015 Frozen 4, their first time achieving such a feat in the school's history.

We extend our best wishes to Coach Aubry as he embarks on his new role with the Omaha Mavericks.
