Goaltender Arrested and Suspended After Crashing Into House
After being arrested, Jared Picklyk, the 20-year-old goalie for the Humboldt Broncos, has been suspended. According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, Picklyk was taken into custody at 1:25 AM on Saturday, only a few hours after his team eliminated the Nipawin Hawks in the SJHL playoffs. Reports suggest that Picklyk drove off the road and crashed into a house, leading to his arrest for refusing to comply with police and declining to take an alcohol breath screening test.
Thankfully, nobody was hurt in the accident, and the RCMP is continuing to investigate the matter. It remains unknown how long Picklyk's suspension will last, but as this is his last season of eligibility to play junior, his junior career is likely over. Though currently undrafted in the NHL, this event is expected to have a significant impact on his chances of making it to the league.
