Philadelphia Flyers Joel Farabee has spent the NHL off-season taking it easy while recovering from quite the serious surgery, a surgery not many NHL players feel the same after having the procedure done. Farabee underwent successful disc replacement surgery in his cervical region this morning (Fri., June 24). The surgery was performed by Dr. Jon Yoon, a neurosurgeon at Penn Medicine.
This summer, Joel Farabee said he spoke to Jack Eichel about artificial disk replacement surgery.

Farabee's expected recovery timeline was 3-4 months, he has now been recovering for a little over three months, and has participated in the teams training camp on and off ice, but in a non-contact jersey.

Farabee has been cleared to play (a huge breath of relief for Flyers fans) but Farabee stated he would not have been as determined with his recovery if it wasn't for this one specific opposing player, Jack Eichel.

"He was really insightful, gave me some good tips, some things he did to rehab. ... I was a little nervous heading into the process, but talking to him made me feel a lot better.»

Flyers forward Kevin Hayes connected Farabee and Eichel together this off-season through social media, as Eichel underwent the same surgery just last year.
