Johnny Gaudreau Finally Reveals Why He Chose The Columbus Blue Jackets
Johnny Gaudreau is one of three players of all time to come off a 100 plus point season and not be re signed, what were the Calgary Flames thinking!? Well, it was not up to them, Johnny Gaudreau was a unrestricted free agent and chose to leave Calgary to sign elsewhere that is closer to home.
Home for Johhny Gaudreau is in the New Jersey area which is connected right to Philadelphia in the suburbs for Johnny, he is right in between both. Everybody expected Johnny Gaudreau to head to Philadelphia until Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher released a statement stating that his team is done making moves and they are happy with the roster they have a big loss for Philly's hometown boy, Gaudreau.
So it left Johnny's options to the New Jersey Devils, where Gaudreau said himself in a interview with Spittin Chiclets on there podcast that he was trying to get a deal done with the Devils but it fell through, leaving him without a team until the Columbus Blue Jackers called later that day around 4:00 in the evening, Gaudreau told his agent ''just get it done, that is where I want to be''.
Gaudreau also commented on how Columbus is ideal for him, that a 6 hour drive from Columbus to his family and friends is a good thing as him and his wife will enjoy there own time and space, with friends and family visiting the odd time.
