The NBA playoffs are currently underway with the Denver Nuggets awaiting the winner of the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics series to meet them in the NBA Finals. Meanwhile, the NHL recently made a puzzling decision by scheduling a game to compete head-to-head with the NBA.

Gary Bettman and the NHL scheduling team need to focus on growing the game through common-sense measures instead of committing to failure.

NHL stepping on itself again. How do you give yourself a chance when you have a Game 6 against an NBA game 7?

Despite this, Game 6 of the Stanley Cup playoffs between the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights was broadcasted at 8 PM on Monday, while the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics game 7 was scheduled for 8:30 pm on the same night.

To build revenue and stars within the game, it is important to prioritize growing the game and avoid competing against a brand like the NBA. Fans have expressed concerns about scheduling in previous seasons as the NHL often starts games and series back to back without staggering them. This recent scheduling conflict is another failure on the NHL's end.

It is imperative for Bill Daly, Marty Walsh, and Gary Bettman to work together to address these issues and improve the scheduling of games in the future.
