The NHL Department of Player Safety has had a busy few days. on Saturday, they handed out another $5,000 fine.
Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn has been fined the maximum allowable $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct for spraying water in Chicago Blackhawks Mackenzie Entwistles face while sitting on the bench late in the third period.
The $5,000 fine is the maximum allowable penalty according to the current NHL CBA.
Benn's antics come after Entwistle was checked into the boards by a Dallas forward and was skating back to the Chicago bench.
There was no need for Benn to do anything from the bench, his actions were uncalled for and punished accordingly.
Benn, 32, does have a history with the Department of Player Safety throughout his 13 year NHL career.
