Since the start of the season, Arber Xhekaj has impressed many hockey fans. And the good words about him don't stop. In 11 games, the Hamilton native scored a goal and recorded two assists. So far this season, the left-handed has already racked up 25 penalty minutes.
A Vegas Golden Knights scout said, "If Montreal hadn't signed him last October, he'd've had 32 offers." The same scout also made this bold statement about Xhekaj:
Xhekaj wasn't drafted and was invited to Montreal's 2021 training camp. Habs management was excited about his abilities and signed him to an ELC on Oct. 4 (2021). Last season, he played all year in the OHL for the Hamilton Bulldogs and the Kitchener Rangers.
Arber Xhekaj has been outstanding so far for Montreal's defense. He is extremely effective and has a good grasp of the offense. In the last game, he was used by Martin St-Louis on the power play. He is slowly gaining the confidence of his coach and could play more minutes in the coming week. He does not hesitate to defend his teammates, and he's a beast at fighting.
