The Ottawa Senators name their leadership group Monday, and there's a new addition.
That's right, the Sens announced that amongside captain Brady Tkachuk, and alternate captain, number-one defenceman Thonas Chabot - local boy Claude Giroux rounds out the Ottawa Senators 2022-23 leadership group.
Giroux, 34, split last season between the Flyers and the Panthers, before deciding to sign an extension with the Senators; a three-year, $19.5 million deal.
The former Flyers captain played 75 games in 2021-22, scoring 21 goals and 44 assists, totalling 65 points.
Does Giroux's addition, and being honoured with a letter provide DJ Smith's squad with just what the team needed?
