The Chicago Blackhawks have officially made their first cut of training camp, the roster is currently at 62 players, and will have to be cut down to a 23-man roster before opening night deadline hits.
The Blackhawks have officially released the teams third round pick Gavin Hayes, and he will report to his respective junior team, the OHL Flint Firebirds.
The 18 year old, which was 17 at the time, put up 59 points in 75 games last year with the Firebirds and will look to continue to develop, and get another shot at the Blackhawks OR Rockford Ice Hogs roster next year.
Elite prospect states the following about promising prospect Gain Hayes:
'When he's looking to create, he shows quick hands and a soft touch to navigate pressure. Some flashy passes and open-ice handling skill suggest there's more upside, too. And he has a projectable shot, especially off the pass. He adjusts his feet to maximize his contact through one-timers. In one smooth motion, he'll take a pass, establish body positioning on backpressure, and fire. Many of his placements are creative, like shooting in the direction the goaltender came from.'
