Report - Gary Bettman and the NHL to force the Chicago Blackhawks to change their name and logo?
Those of us who pay attention know the NHL has been inconsistent in its rule enforcement.
As Toronto operates without a hitch, could a massive change be a result of how the NHL treats native culture?
The NHL clearly does not support even the slightest bit of individual expression, as it fined Marc-Andre Fleury for wearing a mask designed by indigenous artist Cole Redhorse Taylor.
As it continues the war on causes without a lot of thought behind it and veiled behind ambiguous rules, will the Blackhawks see a big change?
With the NHL's war on expression ongoing, will Gary and Bill force the Blackhawks' logo to change?
Marc-Andre Fleury indicated he was planning to wear the mask anyway and pay the fine. The NHL then threatened the Wild organization with an additional significant fine.
It may seem absurd, but as Gary and the league continue to step on rakes and take multiple losses, could they use this logic to force a logo change?
In addition to spending massive amounts of money on rebranding, the Blackhawks might also lose interest in the team, as the iconic logo is ditched.
A new logo and rebranding strategy would require Danny Wirtz to hire the right kind of marketer.
While nothing major has happened yet as a result of the NHL's recent bureaucratic regime gone wild, it's easy to see this line of logic ending here.
