It was a slow start for Patrick Kane since joining the Rangers after being dealt from Chicago prior to the trade deadline. After some growing pains, Kane has flipped the switch and has played a big part in the Rangers recent success offensively.
Kane now has 7 points in 10 games for the Rangers and has seemingly already rebuilt his chemistry with long time friend Artemi Panarin. While the Kane acquisition has paid off well to this point for New York, it is now unlikely that New York will be able to keep him this summer when he hits free agency.
Kane will reportedly need to take "much less" than his market value potential to resign with the cap strapped Rangers. While it is still early, Kane will most likely be facing yet another tough decision when the Rangers' season ends. Does he want to stay with Panarin and New York on a discount, or will be go elsewhere for his market value?
I think it depends on how the Rangers do in the playoffs. Kane seems to have settled in nicely in New York and is enjoying the on ice success and the thrill of being in a playoff position. We'll have to sit back and enjoy the ride to see how the Rangers fare in the playoffs.
