Ryan Reaves' Days in New York Seem to be Over
Back in 2021, the New York Rangers traded for Ryan Reaves, hoping that he would be a solid two way forward, and possibly their next enforcer.
Unfortunately for Reaves and the Rangers, it has not panned out for the two parties. After having 0 points in 12 games this year, Reaves now has just 13 points in 81 games with the Rangers.
His physical presence has been great, but there is not enough offense for the team to consistently put him in the lineup.
He hasn't been playing much the last couple weeks, and it is not because he is injured. For 4 of the last 5 games, Reaves has been a healthy scratch, as the team has been deciding to go with more speed than power lately, according to head coach, Gerard Gallant.
It is seemingly a good possibility that the Rangers move on from Reaves before the deadline as he is in a contract year and not a current part of their plans.
There could definitely be a playoff hopeful team that will take the shot on Reaves to add some depth knowing he is a free agent following this season.
