The Chicago Blackhawks Ultimately Disrespected Their Own Player Last Night
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Ian Mitchell has found himself in an unfortunate situation, being disrespected by the team that he has been committed to since being drafted in 2017. Despite his potential and contributions to the team in the past, Mitchell has been healthy scratched for several games in a row, with no clear explanation or reasoning given by the organization.
To add insult to injury, when Mitchell was finally given the chance to play again, the Blackhawks made him change positions to forward, a position he has never played before. As a result, he held the second least amount of ice time against the Dallas Stars, playing only 12 minutes, and the Blackhawks suffered a humiliating 4-1 loss.
This treatment of Mitchell by the Blackhawks organization is unacceptable and disrespectful to a player who has worked hard to earn his place on the team, just to be replaced by awful veteran defenders, despite the Blackhawks being in a full-on rebuild. Mitchell deserves better than to be left in the dark about his status on the team and then be thrown into a new position with little notice or preparation.
It's important for the Blackhawks to recognize the talent and potential of their players and treat them with the respect they deserve. The team must work to communicate more effectively with their players and ensure that they are given fair opportunities to contribute to the team's success.
