This Stanley Cup Champ could land with the Blackhawks?
J.T. Compher, a recent 2nd line Center and, Stanley Cup Champion has been gaining attention as a top player in the UFA lists.
He has been a valuable asset to the Colorado Avalanche team, especially during tough times when injuries affected the roster.
I'm told there is mutual interest between the #Blackhawks and free agent forward JT Compher. Compher has a lot of interest around the league.
Despite losing to the Seattle Kraken in the playoffs, the Avalanche's impressive depth kept them going, and Compher played a crucial role in their success. If the Avalanche cannot meet his contract expectations, the Blackhawks are rumored to be interested.
Compher's projected salary of $5.3 to $5.6 million is similar to that of another player, Andre Copp, who was recently signed by the Detroit Red Wings.
It is uncertain what will happen on July 1st, but the fact that Chris McFarland is not taking calls on Compher's status is concerning, especially since he is likely to receive a high salary wherever he goes.
The possibility of Chicago being his next destination seems plausible.
