Despite how we love the NHL and our great sport of hockey unfortunately it is a business. Teams make trades we might not like or understand for various reasons.
That's goes the same for the players one minute they are here but unless they are the rare players who get no trade they can be traded just like that. That was the case for Columbus Blue Jackets Oliver Bjorkstrand who was a fan favorite in Columbus but was traded to the Seattle Kraken for a 3rd and 4th round pick.
With the signing of Patrik Laine, and of course Johnny Hockey something had to give. With around $5.5M to clear to be compliant, Oliver Bjorkstrand got the news he's was the odd man out.
The most unfortunate part of this was Oliver Bjorkstrand and his wife just got married and bought a new home in Columbus and we're actually on their honey moon when he got the news. I'd bet that definitely killed the mood that's for sure.
