It's been an interesting last couple of days regarding the ChicagoBlackhawks and their announcement that they're going to start their search for the team's next general manager. It was pretty shocking that they would randomly start the search just before the trade deadline.

From all previous accounts, interim general manager Kyle Davidson would navigate the team through the rest of season before the team would start the search during the offseason.

Davidson is expected to be a top candidate either way.

Earlier today the revelation that they would include baseball executives had some people scratching their heads.

Now there's some good news.

The Blackhawks announced that they've added three former players to the search committee.

MarianHossa, Eddie Olczyk and Patrick Sharp will all help in the search of the new GM.

From DannyWirtz:
"We are honored to announce a group of advisors who will assist our search to find the next general manager for the Chicago Blackhawks. Three former players with deep roots in the Blackhawks family, Marian Hossa, Eddie Olczyk and Patrick Sharp, will be a part of our advisory group. Marian, Eddie and Patrick are respected hockey minds who have great knowledge of the game. In addition, Mike Forde and his group from Sportsology have been assisting us from the start of this process and will continue their support.

Alongside other advisors, we will use their expertise and industry-leading strategy while looking for our next general manager. The perspective this group will provide is instrumental to this process and we are excited to have them assist the club with this important decision. We will start interviewing candidates this week."

While this is great news, this unfortunately likely eliminates Olczyk from the search, somebody many fans wanted to see in the GM chair.
