These exclusive signing rights will expire on one of the most important days of the off-season for NHL teams.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. Providence College men's hockey senior defenseman Connor Kelley (Maple Grove, Minn.) was named Army ROTC Hockey East Defender of the Week as announced by Hockey East on Monday (Oct. 16). Kelley joins teammate Luke Krys (Ridgefield, Conn.) as earning the first two Defender of the Week accolades for Hockey East in 2023-24.

Kelley registered two assists and was a team-best +5 in the Friars' 7-1 victory over Stonehill in their home-opener last Friday night. His +5 rating is tied for the team lead and he also leads all Friars with nine blocked shots.

This day involves NHL prospects who will be exiting their final year of college, and when their signing rights expire they enter free agency as UFAs.

This year will involve a whopping total of 26 prospects whose exclusive signing rights will expire including Blackhawks prospects Connor Kelley and Liam Gorman.
