Alex Chiasson last played in the NHL during the 2022-2023 season with the Detroit Red Wings where he'd suit up for 20 games with the club.
He would later attempt to return to the NHL this season on a PTO with both the Boston Bruins, and Detroit Red Wings at the beginning of the year. But would be unable to crack the lineup.
While he was unable to crack the lineup for this 2024-2025 season, he will be remembered as part of the 2018 Washington Capitals Stanley Cup run.

He was a part of the team, which dismantled the misfit Vegas Golden Knights to secure the team's only Stanley Cup.
The forward was originally drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 2nd round of the 2009 NHL Draft, 38th overall.
His rookie season in the NHL would see him score 35 points(13 G, 22 A), and would only top that once during his 2018-2019 run with the Edmonton Oilers with 38 points.
The middle-six forward would later be traded to the Ottawa Senators for Jason Spezza during the 2014-2015 season.
Difficult contract negotiations would later result in him being traded to the Flames, and wouldn't win his first Stanley Cup until he arrived in Washington.
Chiasson would ride the momentum of his Stanley Cup victory to become a journeyman in the NHL and would play for the Edmonton Oilers, Detroit Red Wings, and Vancouver Canucks.
The veteran forward played 651 NHL games during his career and scored 233 points( 120 G, 113 A) with a -44 rating, and 359 PIMs.
