NHL board of governors reveal several new NHL rules ahead of NHL awards
The NHL jam packed schedule continued today as the NHL Board of Governors convened and passed the series of new rules just prior to the NHL awards night.
The governors hold this meeting every year as the season has come to an end and they have decided to implement 4 new rules that will involve a coaches challenge for a penalty over the glass, a lines change rule a change in icing and warning regarding an unsportsmanlike conduct minor if players are sitting on the boards.
In reviewing the changes, the puck over the glass delay of game penalty is certainly one that needed to be reviewed as many goals have been called back even though they were deflected off of the player on the same team. The league is less interested in calling penalties and having the game speed up well scoring is on the rise.
These changes are not earth shattering to say the least but may improve the game slightly. With the governors meeting complete and the NHS awards being held hours later, the league now takes a small breath and prepares for the NHL draft which will take place on Friday June 28th.
It will be held at the sphere in Las Vegas NV.
