NHL player safety lays hammer down on defensemen with max fine
In NHL news on Friday, the league fined former Blackhawks defensemen McCabe $5,000 for cross-checking Brad Marchand during Thursday night's game.
The incident occurred near the end boards, sparking some tension between the teams.
Toronto's Jake McCabe has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking Boston's Brad Marchand. Although McCabe wasn't penalized during the game, he did receive an interference penalty earlier in the period.
Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe commented after the game, saying, «While we don't like the result, I liked that our guys stood in there.»
The Leafs will be back in action on Saturday night against the Montreal Canadiens.
