On Sunday, February 25th, Patrick Kane returns to the United Center, and fans are excited about it.

GM Kyle Davidson kicked off the rebuild by trading Patrick Kane and not re-signing Jonathan Toews, after 16 years and 3 Stanley Cups.

Scott Powers of The Athletic interviewed Kane about the team and Kane himself was surprised by the changes following Rocky Wirtz's passing. As well as how quickly he was traded to the New York Rangers.

«It wasn't the most thrilling thing to see the camera in your face coming down for like a 6 a.m. flight, but, you know, it is what it is," Kane said.

He lamented that there wasn't enough time before he was traded to say goodbye to the Blackhawks fans.

Although he admitted that the situation was what it is, he acknowledged its reality during the interview. That's all there is to it.

«If they came to me and said, We want you to be a Blackhawk for life. Can we work something out?' I think it probably would have been tough to say no, just because of what happened there and the success we had and just the relationship with the organization,» Kane said.

When it comes down to it, if the Blackhawks were to offer him a contract for the rest of his career, he would find it hard to refuse given his history and success with the organization.

As he waived his No Trade Clause to be traded to the New York Rangers, the opportunity never arose.

In the wake of Kane's return to Chicago on Sunday, it can be assumed that the thought of retirement has crossed his mind.

If Kane decides to retire, we hope he can do so in a Blackhawks uniform.
