Six Teams Linked To 1000 Game Veteran James Van Riemsdyk
Veteran James Van Riemsdyk has made his intent to play in the upcoming 2024-2025 NHL season and yet remains unsigned.
Ironically, the free agent forward has plenty of eyes shifting his way, as he is one of the top UFAs left on the board.
The former Boston Bruins forward wasn't offered a contract by his former team, but the 35-year old is ready for another go at the NHL in 2024-2025. According to reports, teams interested in him were Original Six teams, but that was in the summer, and now the suitors have changed.
I've heard the Devils are one of six teams that would have interest in JVR playing on a one-season deal. The Wild are still a possibility. So is a return to the Bruins. Other potential destinations if playing close to home doesn't work out: Anaheim, Tampa, Vegas.
While his numbers aren't where they used to be, scoring 40 points or less he offers invaluable experience that could help a rebuilding squad like the Blackhawks.
While it's obvious he remains on a cup hunt, his intangibles would be useful for someone like Connor Bedard, or Lukas Reichel as they need to learn leadership skills on and off the ice.
He is considered the last, best free agent on the market left. Who will win the JVR sweepstakes? I think it's a discount.
