The Drive Who Struck and Killed the Gaudreau Brothers Has Been Charged
Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers has just announced that the driver who hit Johnny Gaudreau and brother Matthew has been arrested and prosecuted.
It was announced yesterday that the brothers were struck and killed, by a drunk and a reckless driver in New Jersey.
The driver has deprived a family of their father, a brother of their brother, and the rest of Johnny and Matt's family.
The driver who was arrested and taken into custody has received charges from THW's Mark Scheig:
"ESPN's Mike Greenburg reported Johnny Gaudreau's death on Get Up. He also said the driver of the car was arrested and charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing death."
This was a completely unavoidable tragedy, as Charles-Alexis Brisebois mentions:
"After all, even if drinking and driving is a scourge that is taken more seriously than before, it is still something that can easily be avoided, but that is not always the case.
The message that we must remember from all this is that solutions exist instead of getting behind the wheel while intoxicated."
We need to reach critical mass when it comes to drunk driving. Reach out to your friends, family or loved ones when you need a ride home if you're over the limit.
There are more solutions than just driving while intoxicated, this continued threat should force change on the topic.
