Chicago Blackhawks organization completes trade with Toronto Maple Leafs and it leaves many wondering what the return may be

The Chicago Blackhawks have completed a trade, acquiring a member of the Maple Leafs organization, and this is a rare player to acquire in todays game of hockey.

Blackhawks acquire Matteo Pietroniro from Maple Leafs organization

You don't see too many goons as they seem to be going extinct in today's NHL, but Matteo Pietroniro, who the Blackhawks have just acquired, is one of very few remaining.

Unfortunately we cannot show you what Pietroniro's game is like as it would surely get removed from the web with how violent it truly is.

A defenseman that's familiar with the city of Chicago, dating back to 2017 through 2019, Pietroniro played with the USHL's Chicago Steel.

Now, he has an opportunity to flourish in an NHL or AHL role.

Matteo's first season with the Chicago Steel entailed a whopping 128 penalty minutes in just 53 games played, he was also the teams captain in his second season. His last full season with the Toronto Marlies was a long, 40-game stint, where he tallied up 60 penalty minutes.

The Blackhawks organization acquired the 26-year old veteran defenseman at zero cost, for future considerations.

As Pietroniro reaches the pro level, it's quite clear he's matured in the aspect of helping his team by staying out of the box- but has a role to protect his teammates at all costs.

He will suit up for the IceHogs in their matchup on Sunday against the Chicago Wolves for a 3pm CT puck drop.
