Remembering the Blackhawks and Sabres Trade For Dominik Hasek
On this day on August 7th, 1992 the Buffalo Sabres got a legendary goalie from the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks would send Dominik Hasek to the Buffalo Sabres, in return the Blackhawks would receive Stephane Beauregard and a 1994 4th-round pick that would become Eric Daze.
Hasek would continue his dominance in the NHL winning Six Vezina Trophies with the Buffalo Sabres.
However, the greatest prize in the NHL would elude him as they would lose to the Dallas Stars in 1999, with the controversial Brett Hull goal, which will live in infamy.
In the 1995-1996 season, Eric Daze would score 53 points and be a runner-up in the Calder Trophy voting, he would score 105 goals in his first four seasons in the NHL.
As the Hawks made a surprise run to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Daze set career highs in goals (38), assists (32), and points (70) while playing in all 82 games for the only time in his career. He led the Hawks in both points and goals, earning the lone All-Star nomination of his career. With two goals and an assist in that All-Star Game, he was named MVP, the first Blackhawks to win that award since Bobby Hull in 1971. He won a trophy. And a truck.
While the Blackhawks never won a cup with Eric Daze, they got a solid power-forward who would finish his NHL career with the team in 2003-2004.
Daze played all 601 NHL games with the Blackhawks scoring 398 points(226 G, 172 A), with 37 play games, scoring 12 points( 5 G, 7 A).
