Blacklisted NHL Referee Tim Peel Publicly Slams Chicago Blackhawks' Kyle Davidson Over Latest Move
The Chicago Blackhawks made the tough decision to fire head coach Luke Richardson this week. Former Rockford IceHogs coach Anders Sorensen has stepped in as an interim replacement.
While we weren't certain how hot the seat was for Luke Richardson, the downfall occurred due to the structural failings of the Blackhawks' offense and defense.
But, everyone has their opinion about the topic, and one of them is former disgraced NHL referee Tim Peel.
In what could be a hot-take which isn't so hot.
Everyone has their own opinion on the merits of Head Coach Richardson, and maybe he just wasn't the right fit.
However, Tim Peel is raging at the fact that he's gone and feels that the Blackhawks will continue to struggle without him behind the bench.
Shortly after Nashville forward Viktor Arvidsson was whistled for a tripping penalty on Detroit defenseman Jon Merrill, a rink-side TV microphone picked up an official saying: «It wasn't much, but I wanted to get a f---ing penalty against Nashville early." Given Peel's history in the NHL, and his dismissal as a result of a statement caught on a hot mic, maybe his judgment isn't the best.
Peel's been known to pop up in the dialogue every once in a while, despite no one asking for his opinion.
While this is another case of Peel offering his unsolicited opinion, on a topic which no one thought he'd have any valuable insight on.
Peel, 53, broke into the league in fall of 1999 and had officiated 1,343 regular season games and 90 playoff contests as of Feb. 1, according to the union. He also worked the 2012 NHL All-Star Game and the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.
Although I must admit, this is one time where his comment wasn't made where it seems he considered the well-being of another human being I've seen recently.
