Chicago Blackhawks management attends Wrigley field for major announcement
After the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues play at the 2025 NHL Winter Classic, Wrigley Field will host Big Ten Hockey games.
It was announced that it will feature college hockey in January, with games scheduled for the 3rd and 4th. Both men's and women's teams will compete.
The event is named "The Frozen Confines: Big Ten Hockey Series," includes a major match-up between Ohio State and Michigan.
Other games will see Penn State take on Notre Dame, the Ohio State women's team face Wisconsin, and a game between Wisconsin men and Michigan State to wrap up the series.
The announcement was made at a press conference attended by Blackhawks ambassador and University of Wisconsin legend Chris Chelios, Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti, and representatives from the Blackhawks, Cubs, and the NHL.
"In January, following the Winter Classic, there will be the «The Frozen Confines: Big Ten Hockey Series.» The press conference at Wrigley Field on Thursday will feature Blackhawks ambassador and University of Wisconsin legend (and noted Cubs fan) Chris Chelios, Big Ten Conference Commissioner Tony Petitti as well as representatives from the Blackhawks, Cubs and the NHL."
