With the team's lack of success and a constant stream of steady losses, it appears that's some Blackhawks fans had decided to remain at home rather than go to the United centre to watch game.
This season was supposed to be special for the United Center as it's celebrating its 30 years in service.
The venue along with the Blackhawks organization had done some upgrades to the facility to coordinate that anniversary with the new season of the team.
The United Center is rated for 19,717 fans seated along with standing room and corporate boxes but it's clear that the fans are beginning to turn away and this is beginning to look a lot like what happened when the Blackhawks add another down season prior to drafting Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.
The Blackhawks have also had a stumbling when it comes to the TV market as CHSN has been a disaster for the Wirtz Corporation and Jerry Reinsdorf who has tried to replace NBC Sports Chicago after they cancelled their regional coverage of all Chicago-based sports teams.
All these factors have come into play as the Blackhawks approached 25 games into their season and it's likely that Blackhawks fans will have a breaking point where with high inflation around the country, fans are reluctant to spend their hard-earned dollars to a losing franchise that has not seen the turn around they had hoped by now.
Rebuilds are very difficult in the NHL and there's no guarantee that the formula that's used will work every time but it's safe to say the Blackhawks will need to do something soon that will change the trajectory of this rebuild and help the team win more hockey games which will help the bottom line for the organization.
