Connor Bedard isn't the new, 18-year-old #1 draft pick anymore; he's a sophomore now, and at 19 years old, he's finding his way into this league.

That paid dividends as last night in the game against the St Louis Blues in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bedard started a fight, and got into it with Zack Bolduc of the Blues.

As said, Bedard is a sophomore now, and he's finally starting to break out of his shell. He would've never done that last year.

Well, Luke Richardson commented on it, and it doesn't seem he was too thrilled.

Richardson said he was worried about the injury risk when Bedard got in the late scrum:

"Connor needs to stay out of that stuff if he could. But I like the thought process of it and his mentality that he's not going to take anything from anybody."

After all, it is preseason, and Richardson just probably doesn't want Connor to get hurt. Plus, he didn't do this last year, so it's a new thing that Luke isn't used to, as he may see the 18-year-old from last year still.

However, you don't want to discourage Bedard from breaking out of his shell. You want this aggression and spark, because you don't necessarily have it anywhere else right now. Someone has to get the team going, and it doesn't matter how. He's still growing in this league as a second year, and this stuff needs to happen where he finally starts to stick up for himself, start a little scuffle, and find his way.

It's refreshing to see, but on Richardson's side, he just doesn't want him to get too wild. He's done this a couple times this year, and it could become a problem if this is a twice a week thing.
