However, that win didn't come cleanly, as a scrum broke out that was started by none other than Connor Bedard.
After Bedard gave a couple shoves to Zack Bolduc of the Blues, it continued down on the other end of the ice. It then erupted into a fight, where you could see Reichel, Kurashev, Korchinski, and the whole St Louis squad all getting involved. Korchinski also got the upper hand in a tussle with Dalibor Dvorsky.
This is what Connor had to say on the fight:
Bedard would've never done this last year. But that's what spending two seasons with Nick Foligno does to you, and you can say Foligno's leadership is running off on Bedard, and it's a good thing to see. Especially since Bedard had the «A» on his sweater last night, he took that role seriously, and stuck up for himself and his team.
Connor's been on a roll this preseason and hasn't taken anything from anybody. He's also been putting it up on the scoresheet, with a goal and a couple assists. Bedard is a future captain, no doubt, and that's how you gain respect from your peers in the locker room.
Bedard should continue to have this attitude and playstyle into the regular season, as after a tough preseason, Chicago needs a spark to get them going.
