Patrick Kane issues statement on the Blackhawks in interview with NHL
Former Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane sat down with nhl.com and made a statement on how overtime playoff hockey is the best hockey in the world.
During his three cup wins with the Blackhawks, Kane was dominant in overtime and loved the pressure and reward as he was able to win five games as the game winner.
«In those situations,» he said, «any time there's a little breakdown or a little space, you're thinking, OK, this could be the moment. This could be it that something happens.'
Kane scored in different situations throughout the playoffs including avoiding elimination, having the Blackhawks advance to the Western Conference final, advancing and winning the Stanley Cup.
«I always felt like I kind of thrived in overtime, because I feel like I always kind of played so loose,» he said. «You see a lot of guys in overtime. They might tighten up, or they might be worried about making a mistake, and I feel like when you do that, you're prone to making even more mistakes.
Kane was a difference maker which reflected on his overall talent and determination in the playoffs. As the offseason begins, speculation has been rampant on whether Kane will remain with the Detroit Red Wings or look for a new organization as he will become an unrestricted free agent.
His hip resurfacing surgery was a complete success as he was dominant with the Red Wings and almost put them in the playoffs with 50 games played, he had twenty goals with 27 assists for 47 points.
It remains to be seen on whether general manager Kyle Davidson will circle back and find out if there's any interest, but it seems that he is destined to be elsewhere and only time will tell.
