Patrick Kane leaves the Detroit Red Wings with a cliffhanger
In a move that surprised many, three-time Stanley Cup winner Patrick Kane chose to sign with the Detroit Red Wings.
Despite being 35 years old, Kane showcased his ability to perform at a high level, showing that his hip resurfacing surgery had gone smoothly and had no negative effects on his game.
As his contract expires in July, Kane remains undecided about his future plans but spoke highly of his experience with the organization.
"It was a great year, i have nothing but positive things to say about the organization and the opportunities provided by Steve and Newsy. Playing alongside top players and receiving significant ice time made it a memorable experience."
While Kane acknowledges his pending free agency with no contract heading into the summer, he expressed a willingness to explore the situation with his agent and Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman.
"As far as my future plans, I'm not really sure, obviously, I'm a free agent and not under contract, but I'm sure I'll explore the situation here and talk to my agent and go over everything, and see what makes sense."
"I think from being in Chicago for so long and going to New York and then coming to Detroit, maybe looking for some stability as far as term, but I think that the right situation matters too."
As Kane enters the offseason, speculation mounts about where he will play next.
