According to DailyFaceoff's Frank Seravalli defenseman Drew Doughty was injured during a collision against the Golden Knights.
Doughty has suffered a fractured ankle after the collision last night.
Dought's status was updated, as he will be out long-term, and no official timetable to return once a determination is made.
The collision happened between Drew Doughty and Vegas Golden Knights forward Tanner Pearson. He would leave the game, with what was originally thought to be an Achilles or leg injury.
Doughty would get tangled up with Pearson, and his left skate head would be jammed into the sideboards.
Doughty would remain on the ice, in observable pain, and would be helped off the ice, by teammates.
This is a tough loss for the Kings who have playoff hopes, as they once again were deftly defeated by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1st round of the Stanley Cup playoffs last year.
The regular season without Drew Doughty could be a massive red flag, as they will have to rely upon rookie help to fill his spot while he's out recovering from injury.
Which Jordan Spence, or Brandt Clarke could be next to play next to Mikey Anderson on the top pair?
Brandt Clarke has only played 25 games in the NHL and has tallied only 8 points( 2 G, 6 A) during his short stint in the NHL.
He could provide the offense needed while proving himself that he's what the Kings needed as even coach Jim Hiller feels Clarke has matured his game in that short period of time.
Update:
It appears Doughty will be out for a significant amount of time. He'll be out of the Kings lineup for seven months, and that means they'll need a defenseman who can handle top minutes and that could be Brandt Clarke.
